
Catalin Buliga, Technology Director of Vodafone Egypt, brings more than 34 years of experience in driving innovation and delivering strategic transformations in the telecommunications industry.
Since joining Vodafone Egypt in 2022, he has led the company’s technology strategy, combining global expertise with local insight to elevate network performance and foster innovation. His focus on building a resilient and high-performing network has positioned Vodafone Egypt as a market leader, earning industry accolades such as receiving the Best Mobile and Fixed Broadband Network Awards by umlaut for three consecutive years. Additionally, under his leadership, Vodafone Egypt received two prestigious honors at the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards for digital innovation and network & broadband excellence.
Catalin’s leadership extends beyond technological advancement to include a strong commitment to sustainability. Recognizing the importance of environmental responsibility in the telecommunications industry, he has championed initiatives to reduce Vodafone Egypt’s carbon footprint while maintaining operational excellence. Under his guidance, the company achieved a key milestone by matching 100% of its electricity consumption with renewable energy sources and is on track to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035. These efforts reflect his ability to align cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices, setting a benchmark for environmentally responsible innovation in the region.
Throughout his career, Catalin has consistently driven large-scale transformation projects across international markets. As Head of Vodafone Network Development for Europe Cluster (2021–2022), he played a pivotal role in modernizing networks across multiple countries, ensuring they were ready for next-generation connectivity. Earlier, during his tenure as CTO of Vodafone Romania (2016–2021), he led significant network upgrades that set new performance benchmarks and earned him the title of “CTO of the Year – Game Changer” by Mobile Europe UK in 2020.
